Step 1
To increase the driver's legroom, lengthen the frame at the rear (behind the power unit). The degree of elongation is selected individually and often depends on the rider's height. When doing this, consider how you will lengthen the rear wheel drive. To make a chopper, lengthen the frame in front of the engine. Place the control pedals on the rod in front of the engine. Select the height of the pedals individually.
Step 2
To fit a wider rear wheel, widen the frame. In the experience of DIYers, do not fit the wheel wider than 200-210 mm. With such a modernization, the rear wheel drive is inevitable. For a beautiful look, change the angle of the front fork. Don't be too zealous: tilt angles greater than 33 degrees reduce the motorcycle's handling dramatically. Reinforce the fork stays, traverses and upper frame tubes if possible.
Step 3
Install the rear shock absorbers with a tilt to improve the efficiency and appearance of the rear shocks. When doing this, keep in mind that the more the rear shock absorbers tilt, the lower the load capacity of the motorcycle. A strong inclination leads to the fact that it will be dangerous to plant even a fragile passenger. Among other things, try to lower the saddle line to match the extended frame or raise the front of the frame.
Step 4
Before overcooking motorcycle frames, acquire sufficient experience in welding. The safety of the future structure depends on the strength of the welded seam. Take all additional pipes for the new structure only from other frames. Never use tap water because of its low strength. When welding, use a powerful semi-automatic welding machine.
Step 5
Please note that when welding the frame, the alignment of the front and rear wheels is strictly observed. To do this, weld the frame with tacks, and finally weld only after a thorough check for evenness. Pay special attention to the fact that the wheels are rolling track in track. This requirement is so important for the safety of a homemade design that a crookedly installed engine can be compromised in order to fulfill it.
