Most motorists are very attentive to their "iron horse". That is why we are ready to stay in the garage for hours, putting in order the components of the car: the engine, the turbine, etc. Sometimes it becomes necessary to remake a three-phase motor to include it in a single-phase network.

Instructions

Step 1

If you want to remodel a three-phase motor at home, do not rush to despair. To do this, you do not need a lot of knowledge in electronics or electricity. Unfortunately, only electric motors, the power of which does not exceed three kW, lend themselves to alteration. Otherwise, you will need to do a separate wiring and supply the shield with an additional circuit breaker. At the same time, there is a risk that the lead-in cable simply will not withstand the load exerted on it.

Step 2

So, find the terminal box located on the motor housing. Unscrew the cover carefully and feel for the wires. Depending on your car model, there will be three or six of them coming out of the motor stator. The essence of the engine alteration is that not 380V, but only 220V is supplied to the contacts.

Step 3

Take one of the wires from the circuit breaker. You can ignore the phase or zero. Now connect it to the pin on the terminal. In this case, it is necessary to connect the working and starting capacitors between the two contacts. The latter must be equipped with a start button.

Step 4

Particular attention should be paid to the selection of suitable capacitors. Stop at an electrolytic starting capacitor that is over 450V. As for the capacity, it depends entirely on the engine:

- 1000 rpm with a power of 1 kW - 80 mF;

- 1500 rpm with a power of 1 kW - 120 mF;

- 3000 rpm with a power of 1 kW - 150 mF.

Step 5

When you buy a running capacitor that is needed to increase the power of a motor, turn your attention to paper capacitors. Its voltage should be 300V or more. Select the capacitance of the capacitor so that the motor runs without hum. To do this, remember the following ratio: a power of 0.6-3 kW corresponds to a capacity of 16-40 mF.

Step 6

If after starting the engine it turns out that it rotates in the opposite direction, simply swap the wires in the terminal box.
