Provide the supplier with the correct details of your car: model, make, body number, year of manufacture, engine number, VIN code for European cars. Ask your supplier for a photo of the contract engine you are purchasing so you can compare the unit when you order and receive it.
Step 3
Be sure to find out what kind of warranty the supplier provides for this engine and how long it is valid for. It is also important to find out everything about the conditions of installation and operation of the device.
Step 4
Buy your oil filter and engine oil from the same supplier. In this case, if the unit fails, the supplier will no longer be able to present you with claims regarding the use of low-quality consumables.
Step 5
Find out what documents are included with the device. The contract engine must be accompanied by a state customs declaration and a purchase and sale agreement. The absence of these documents indicates that this engine has already been operated on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Step 6
Find out all about the presence of attachments on the engine. As a rule, it contains a generator, a starter, a hydraulic booster, a distributor, an air conditioning compressor, an exhaust and intake manifold. The absence of these gives you a reason to resort to bargaining when buying a contract engine.
Step 7
Pay by receipt or by cash, since it is difficult to prove the fact of payment made by transferring funds to a plastic card.
Step 8
Require the supplier that the unit is wrapped in plastic, so that no parts are removed during delivery, the engine is in a wooden crate, an inventory of the engine is made before shipment, and the documents are handed over to the transporting company.
Step 9
Upon receipt of the unit, make sure the integrity of the film, the crate and the availability of the necessary documents.
