Often the radiator becomes clogged with various impurities and stops working normally. To eliminate this problem, you must completely clean the entire cooling system.
Instructions
Step 1
First drain the coolant from the radiator. To do this, unscrew the drain plug and then the radiator cap. Then drain the fluid from the engine by first removing the plug. Dismantle the expansion tank carefully and discard the liquid inside it.
Step 2
Take a small amount of distilled water and pour it into the radiator. Prepare a sealant to apply to the installation site of the drain plug. After that, carefully tighten the cap and the radiator cap. Install the expansion tank.
Step 3
Find the bolt that is responsible for removing excess air from the cooling system. Unscrew it and replace the gasket to prevent leaks after further assembly. Start pouring coolant into the radiator until you see it flowing out of the hole where the bolt was installed.
Step 4
Replace the bolt and tighten. Pour coolant into the radiator until it is full until the liquid level reaches the base of the filler neck. Also, don't forget to fill the expansion tank. Then carefully screw the radiator cap back on.
Step 5
Insert the key into the ignition and start the engine. Wait a while to let it warm up. Wait for the moment when the thermostat opens and starts its work. Gently touch the radiator hose, it must be at least slightly warm.
Step 6
After that, press the gas pedal several times, and then stop the engine and remove the key from the ignition. Wait until everything under the hood has completely cooled down, and do not forget to then add coolant to the required level in the expansion tank. Check the radiator for proper operation after all procedures.
