One of the most difficult dilemmas when buying a car is choosing between a diesel and a gasoline engine. Thus, a diesel engine is more economical and less toxic, and a gasoline engine, despite high fuel consumption and a higher degree of environmental hazard, is more comfortable.

What to choose - diesel or gasoline? This question worries many car buyers. As a rule, it will not be possible to simply answer this question. First of all, you need to consider the features of the types of engines, which will help you make the right choice.

Diesel engine

The main application of a diesel engine on powerful equipment is its indisputable economy, which is associated with a low level of fuel consumption. This is due to the higher efficiency rates, which are achieved by higher compression than a gasoline engine. The second reason for the reduced fuel consumption is a high-quality working mixture.

Simply put, the oxygen that is sent to the cylinders is irrelevant to the crankshaft speed and load. The amount of air is a constant constant. The volume of fuel, on the other hand, is determined by the load on the engine, the consumption increases with them. But in any case, even under full load conditions, the volume of fuel in the mixture will be half that of a gasoline engine. These factors allow us to talk about high rates of fuel efficiency. The compression ratio does not depend on the loads, and the working mixture is poorer.

Gas engine

Gasoline engines are used in passenger cars and have large parameters of shaft rotation and fuel volume. At the same time, vibration and noise emitted by the motor are one level lower. Composition-controlled working mixture. Thus, the compression ratio at medium power is the basis for the operation of passenger cars. Such engines have low fuel combustion efficiency and, accordingly, suboptimal expansion, which leads to high fuel consumption.

Comparing cars with diesel and gasoline engines, the following results were obtained. At an average power, the efficiency of the engine on gasoline is lower than on diesel, by about twenty percent. It should be noted that in recent years, a lot of modifications of gasoline engines have been produced to reduce the toxicity parameter. After the advent of the piston processor, toxicity has almost halved. Despite this, pollution standards are constantly increasing, and experts are coming to the conclusion that diesel engines will become more common in the future due to their low toxicity and economy. Today, there is already a tendency to oust gasoline engines from the market.
