For drivers who are forced to stand idle for hours in traffic jams, it may be necessary to adjust the speedometer readings upward, the so-called winding (or cheating, they call everything differently).
Instructions
Step 1
The sequence of actions for winding up a UAZ mechanical speedometer is as follows:
Unscrew the nut that secures the speedometer cable to the gearbox drive, disconnect the speedometer cable from the gearbox and pull. If the nut is tightly wrapped and does not unscrew immediately, turn it gently with pliers.
Step 2
Connect, using a rubber tip, a reversible electric drill to the speedometer cable. To do this, put one end of such an adapter on the tip of the cable, and fasten the other end of the adapter to the drill chuck.
Step 3
Then plug in the power drill and select the desired direction of rotation. If you are using a battery-powered screwdriver, select the required direction of rotation of the chuck and turn on the tool.
Step 4
Observe the speedometer counter while rotating the drill. When the desired readings are achieved, disconnect the speedometer cable from the tool, remove the adapter and insert the cable tip into the gearbox gearbox. Tighten the nut that secures the cable to the gearbox.
Step 5
If an electronic speedometer (or odometer) is installed on a UAZ vehicle, proceed as follows:
Remove the instrument panel assembly, disconnect the speedometer from the panel. Then remove the bracket, which is used to attach and fix the electric speedometer drive. Remove the motor.
Step 6
Use a flat screwdriver to turn the gears of the speedometer counter in the direction that increases the counter reading. After obtaining the desired readings, reinstall the motor and secure it with a fixing bracket.
Step 7
Attach the speedometer body to the instrument cluster panel. Mount it in place, secure it. Various methods and devices are used to wind an electronic speedometer. Improper installation of the device or the use of a poor quality device can damage expensive and complex car electronics.
