The modern car owner is extremely interested in the long service life of his car, and this is directly related to the quality of the fuel. It is very difficult to independently determine the compliance of gasoline with standards - it is possible that special tests will be issued in the future; in the meantime, you have to rely on the integrity of the gas station.
The numbers next to the letter designation indicate the octane number; the larger they are, the more stable the gasoline molecules and the less detonation. The octane number can be preceded by one letter (A) or two (AI). "A" indicates that the fuel is intended for cars, "I" indicates that the octane value was determined by a research method. High-octane fuel is always more expensive. It should be noted right away that in domestic conditions it is necessary to independently determine the brand of fuel, i.e. its octane number is impossible - laboratory tests are needed. However, it is quite possible to understand the application, the advantages of both brands.
Gasoline AI-92
Considered to be in the Regular motor gasoline category. It is a high-octane fuel used in high-compression automotive engines. Gasoline is resistant to detonation and ensures smooth engine operation. However, in European countries it is considered an “endangered” type of fuel, mainly due to the toxicity of exhaust gases. AI-92 is widely used in Russia. This gasoline can be leaded or unleaded (according to the amount of lead).
Gasoline AI-95
Belongs to the category Premium motor gasoline. It is considered to be fuel of improved quality. In its manufacture, gasoline, various additives to reduce detonation are used. In this type of fuel, the lead content is minimal, which gives an undoubted plus in environmental terms. There is also a subclass of 95th gasoline - Extra fuel, which is completely lead-free. In terms of anti-knock properties, the AI-95 is almost similar to its "colleague", gasoline 93.
Comparison of fuel brands
If we compare in theoretical terms, the 95th gasoline is of better quality than the 92nd, at least the toxicity of the exhaust gases is much less. In practice, however, the situation is somewhat different; especially if it is connected with Russian gas stations. The main difference between the 95th and the 92nd is the presence of a greater number of additives, in particular, various ethers, which contribute to faster fuel combustion, which gives little savings in gasoline consumption. But in reality, these savings are more than "eaten" by the higher cost.
Moreover, as practice shows, it happens that at Russian gas stations the 92nd turns out to be better than the 95th. In fact, the difference between these two types of fuel is minimal today and depends on the conscientiousness of the manufacturer and the seller. Therefore, there is only one way out - to refuel at a proven gas station.
