Engine oil is the main fluid that is used when the engine is running. The main task of engine oil is to lubricate all internal parts of the unit - engine units, to reduce the friction of these units to a minimum. Therefore, oil quality is one of the first conditions for the good performance of your car engine. But today you can often come across a low-quality fake engine oil. How to distinguish an original engine oil from a fake?
It is necessary
- - Butter;
- - a small transparent container;
- - a blank sheet of paper.
Instructions
Step 1
Pay your attention to the label and find the date of manufacture, which should be made in the corporate style (time digits, production number and batch number) and coincide with the date of manufacture on the canister itself. If the date of manufacture does not match or is absent at all on the label (canister), this is a sure sign of fake oil.
Step 2
Immediately before filling the oil, check its properties visually. To do this, you need to pour oil into a small transparent container, during the process of filling it, pay attention to the color and viscosity of the engine oil, the color should be amber, if it is dark, this indicates that the oil is of poor quality or generally processed.
Step 3
Also, take some oil and rub it between your fingers, so you can appreciate its oily properties. Even if visually the engine oil did not cause your complaints, do not rush to fill it into the engine. Set the container aside for five minutes in a dark place. After settling, the oil should have a uniform consistency, without signs of delamination, and the bottom of the container should be clean, without traces of abrasive particles and sediment.
Step 4
Take a blank sheet of paper, pour about one plug of engine oil on it. Hold the sheet at an angle. The oil, flowing through the paper, is partially absorbed, while the rest is evenly distributed over the surface of the sheet. If noticeable dark spots remain on the sheet, then the oil contains substandard additives that can harm your engine.
