Step 1
Pay attention to the label and to the canister itself. The label should be firmly glued with its entire surface, but if the sticker peels off easily, then in front of you is most likely a fake. Also look for the manufacturer's full address, phone number, expiration date and date. The date of manufacture of the oil printed on the front of the label must coincide with the date of manufacture of the canister, stamped on the bottom. If they do not match or are completely absent, then this is a sign of 100% fake. And recently, so that motorists can distinguish real motor oil, manufacturers have begun to place a holographic element with a logo, which is glued to the label itself, or is fused into the plastic base of the canister. It does not have any edges to the touch and does not peel off.
Step 2
Visually inspect the engine oil. To do this, you need a plastic cup. Pour some oil into it and observe its viscosity and color. If the color is too dark, it indicates that the oil is of poor quality. Then put a strong magnet in this glass and put it in a dark place for 5 minutes. If after that there is no sediment at the bottom, traces of ferromagnetic particles, then everything is fine - the oil is of high quality.
Step 3
Then take a glass slide and put a few drops of oil on it and rub it right away. If, when rubbing between the glasses, a small creak is heard, it means that there are mechanical impurities in the oil that are dangerous for the engine and, accordingly, the oil is defective.
Step 4
Take a white piece of paper and pour the engine oil cap over it. At the same time, keep the sheet at an angle. Oil, flowing over the paper, will be partially absorbed, and the rest will be evenly distributed over the surface of the sheet. If dark spots remain on it, it means that there are mechanical impurities in the oil, and if it is light, then this indicates its high performance.
