Step 1
Take a screwdriver, drive it into the ignition with a strong motion and turn it. Use the screwdriver like a wrench. In this case, the lock will inevitably be broken and subsequently will have to be replaced. This method is suitable for cars whose design did not change until the mid-90s. In particular, for almost all domestically produced cars.
Step 2
If you need to keep the ignition switch intact, or if you can't start the car with a screwdriver, use another method. Locate the screws on the bottom and top of the steering column and remove them. Pry up and carefully remove the plastic panels covering the ignition cylinder and wires. Be careful to minimize damage to the steering column and avoid accidentally shorting the ignition wires.
Step 3
Take the instructions for the vehicle. Go to the "Ignition" item and specify the color code of the wires in order to be guided in their purpose. The red wires are usually responsible for powering the car, while the brown ones connect directly to the ignition.
Step 4
Wear gloves. Cut off the wires supplying the ignition cylinder with pliers. Now strip the ends of the wires to connect them directly. This supplies power to electrical systems and circuits such as radios, headlights, etc. Be careful not to touch exposed wires - they are live.
Step 5
Gently grasp the wires by the insulation, and pull the exposed parts together. A small spark should slip through and the car will start. It is necessary to disconnect the wires and insulate so as not to get an electric shock.
