Instructions

Step 1

Remove the steering column cover. The wires leading to the ignition switch will be visible. Disconnect the wires from the ignition switch in any convenient way. It is necessary to determine the wires going to the battery, to the car starter, to the power supply circuit of the instruments and the wire that provides grounding.

Step 2

Determine the ground. Usually this is a black or green wire. To check, short the wire through the tester to the car body. The arrow of the device is in the zero position. Therefore, it is "land." After determining, it is advisable to insulate the end of this wire, since the car wiring may be damaged if accidentally connected to the power wires.

Step 3

Identify the power wire (s). Most often it is a thick yellow or red wire. Sometimes there are several power wires. In this case, you need to find them all. Determining the power wires is reduced to determining the voltage relative to ground. Use a tester to alternately short each wire to ground or to the vehicle chassis. The arrow of the device will show the value of the battery voltage. Tie the wires you find together. Avoid accidental contact with ground or vehicle chassis.

Step 4

Identify the wires that supply power to the starter. Place the vehicle handbrake in neutral. Short-circuit the remaining wires with the power wires one at a time. When one of the wires is closed, the starter will start working. The required wire has been found. The remaining wires provide power to the vehicle.

Step 5

We connect the power wires to the wire that supplies voltage to the car. Make sure the connection is strong, as the wires may come loose when the vehicle is moving, causing the engine to stall.

Step 6

We connect a wire to the connection that supplies voltage to the starter. We close. The car started up - we open the wire and isolate it.
