With the onset of cold weather, many car owners are faced with the same problem - the car will not start. Any cars, including such reliable ones as "Taureg", are subject to this trouble. There can be a great variety of reasons why the car does not start, but there are also the main ones, the most common.
Instructions
Step 1
The battery is low It is quite simple to identify this cause. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it without starting the car. Try to turn on the headlights and switch between high and low beams. Look at the gauges on the dashboard. If they barely glow and the headlights are dim, the battery is most likely dead. In this case, you can "light" from another car or replace the battery. If the electronics do not turn on at all, the battery terminals may oxidize. In this case, they must be cleaned with fine sandpaper and reattached.
Step 2
Candles are flooded This is one of the most common problems. If you've been trying to start your car long enough, chances are you hit it. There are 4 candles in Tuareg, which can be easily removed using a special key. Having disconnected the loops from the candle, put the key on it until it stops, insert a screwdriver into the key hole and unscrew the damaged part. After that, the candles must be ignited and dried on a battery or stove. It will take about 20-30 minutes. Then you can screw them back. To avoid this problem, prepare the car for winter in advance by installing new four-pin plugs, and before starting the car, press the gas pedal several times.
Step 3
The engine is boiling If smoke comes out from under the hood and the car does not start, most likely your engine is boiling. Open the hood, take a rag and carefully unscrew the cap on the radiator. Then step back and wait until the smoke has completely disappeared. Then try to start the car again. Do not get under way, stand idle a little, look at the instruments, what is the number of revolutions. The value should be no more than 1000-1500 rpm. If the indicators are slightly higher than the norm, get under way and, turning on the emergency gang, go to the service station, on the way not exceeding 40 kilometers per hour. The battery may be damaged or the coolant level is too low.
Step 4
Damaged brake hose Brake hoses often burst in cold weather, especially if your car does not have an auto-heating alarm. Open the hood and carefully examine the integrity of the hose and its connection to the engine. If you find a small crack, try covering it with duct tape. This is enough to start the car. Go straight to the Volkswagen specialized auto parts store, tell the brand of your car and the problem. Purchase and install a new brake hose.
