Anti-lock braking system (ABS) sensors are located on the front wheel knuckles or front and rear wheel hub assemblies. You can find out the installation of the ABS sensors using the factory instructions. Jack up the front of the car. Place the machine on the props. Remove the corresponding front wheel to access parts.

Step 1
Jack up the front of the vehicle. Place the machine on the props. Remove the corresponding front wheel to access parts.
Step 2
If the sensors are mounted on the steering knuckles, remove the bolts securing the sensor to the steering knuckle. Carefully remove the sensor from the steering knuckle where it is attached. Release the sensor cable fasteners through the free opening and disconnect the plug connector. Clean any dirt from the sensor bore and the sensor itself. The ABS sensors on the rear wheels are removed in the same way.
Step 3
To remove the ABS sensor rotor, remove the corresponding brake caliper and tie it to the suspension mechanisms without disconnecting the hydraulic drive. After removing the ABS sensor, mark the brake disc relative to the hub and remove this disc. Loosen the hub nut. Remove the anti-roll bar. Release the ball joint from the hub assembly by loosening the nut that secures it.
Step 4
Knock out the spring pin securing the inner CV joint and remove the drive shaft assembly. Disconnect the tie rod from the hub and release the ball joints. Having noted the location of the breakup bolt head, unscrew the bolts securing the hub to the suspension strut. Remove the hub assembly. Dismantle the hub from the hub assembly by pressing it out. Remove the ABS sensor rotor by unscrewing the bolts securing it to the hub flange. The rotors of the ABS sensors on the rear wheels are removed in the same way.
Step 5
Install the sensor in the reverse order. If the rotor was removed, when assembling the hub, replace the spring pin securing the inner CV joint and the hub nut. Check the tightening torques of all connections in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Adjust the air gap between the sensor and its rotor. After assembly, check the health and functionality of the ABS.
Step 6
To adjust the air gap between the sensor and its rotor, measure the gap between the ABS sensor and each of the 44 teeth on its rotor. Compare the measurement results with the requirements of the specifications. If there is insufficient clearance, adjust it using the special tool. If the gap is too large, replace the rotor or ABS sensor.
