The phase sensor in the vehicle is located on the cover of the oil pump. It provides the controller with the necessary information about the angular position of the crankshaft and the moment the pistons pass the first and second cylinders. When the depression on the teeth of the sinking disk on the generator drive pulley passes by the sensor, a reference synchronization pulse is generated in it. To remove and check the sensor, follow these steps.

Necessary

  • - key for 10;
  • - flat screwdriver;
  • - multimeter;
  • - megohmmeter.

Instructions

Step 1

Place the car on an inspection pit or overpass, as it is more convenient to get to the phase sensor from below. Turn off the car ignition. Disconnect the negative lead from the battery. Remove the engine protection from below by unscrewing the four bolts on its cover with a screwdriver. The engine oil pump is accessible. The phase sensor is located next to the pump oil filter.

Step 2

Disconnect the phase sensor connector. Unscrew the fastening bolt with a key 10. Remove the sensor from the oil pump cover bracket. Now you need to check it

Step 3

Perform an external inspection of the sensor, identify damage to the case, core, terminal block and its contacts. Clean the contacts with an alcohol-gasoline mixture. Clean metal particles and dirt from the sensor core.

Step 4

Measure the resistance of the sensor with a multimeter. Set the switch on the instrument to the 2000 ohm position Connect the contacts of the device to the sensor. The resistance of a working sensor should be within 550-750 Ohm (data for a VAZ-2109 car). The check should be carried out at a temperature of 22 ± 2 ° C, while taking into account the error of the measuring device.

Step 5

Check the inductance of the sensor winding between the contacts of the first and second blocks using an R (L, C E7-8) meter at a frequency of 1 kHz. The inductance value should be within 200-420 MHz.

Step 6

Measure the insulation resistance of the sensor between the core and the contacts of the first and second blocks using a megohmmeter Ф4108 / 1. The resistance value must be at least 20 megohm at a voltage of 500 V.

Step 7

Replace the faulty phase sensor with a new one. Install it on the oil pump cover in reverse order. Secure the motor protection cover.
