Tuning headlights is one of the main ways to brighten up your car and update its design. Also, changing headlights will help improve visibility on the road when driving in the dark, because the safety of passengers, as you know, depends on the quality of light.
Instructions
Step 1
First, remove the headlight from the vehicle. It is usually fixed with four bolts, two of which are at the bottom and the other two at the top. On some models, the bumper must be disconnected to remove the headlights. Heat the headlamp in an oven at a temperature of about 300 degrees or with a construction hair dryer so that the sealant loses its properties and the headlamp can be easily opened.
Step 2
Remove the reflector located at the base of the lamp. To prevent damage to the high beam reflector, carefully cover it with tape. Dismantle the old lamp base; for this, use a drill with a crown to make a hole in the reflector. Also drill a hole for the back of the lens housing. Make a protective case for the lens and wrap it with tape.
Step 3
Grease the places of the old mount and make holes for the lens mount. Then screw on the lens. Attach a piece of fabric to the very edge of it, and connect the other part to the headlight. Apply several coats of epoxy and hardener to the fabric. After the structure has dried, cut off all unnecessary along the contour.
Step 4
Gently apply a layer of fiberglass and saturate the structure with epoxy. After drying, level the surface with a putty. Try to shape the inside of the headlight. Place the chrome lens ring on, and lay the cardboard around in a circle.
Step 5
Carefully fill up all unnecessary holes and irregularities with putty and apply a layer of primer. Remove excess fiberglass before doing this. Prepare the surface for painting by sanding it with the finest sandpaper. After that, apply a coat of paint and then varnish. Also repaint the second part of the headlight in the same color. Attach the protective glass and reattach the headlight in place. Remember to tune your headlights after installing them.
