From constant use, the interior trim of any car sooner or later falls into disrepair. The worn and torn seats give the car an unkempt and careless look. If you want to keep the factory upholstery in good condition, you need to make car covers.
Necessary
- - material;
- - scissors;
- - tracing paper;
- - threads;
- - sewing machine;
- - drawing accessories.
Instructions
Step 1
Make a pattern for future covers. To do this, you need to know the exact dimensions of all seats. First draw a freehand sketch. It should reflect in detail all the features of the seats. After that, carefully draw up a drawing on tracing paper, which will be the pattern. Check the correctness of all calculations several times.
Step 2
Copy the pattern to the back of the fabric using a marker or pencil. After that, mark all the lines along which you want to cut the blanks. Check if the pattern was transferred correctly to the material. The fewer mistakes you make, the more material you can save. Cut all the blanks along the reference lines.
Step 3
Lay out the parts for the first cover on the table. Sew them with a basting stitch. After that, make the first fitting. Make adjustments if necessary. Remove the cover and sew on all seams with a sewing machine.
Step 4
Remove the basting. Be very careful not to inadvertently break the face seam. Sew a zipper to the edges of the fabric to secure the back of the cover. You can also use buttons or special Velcro for clothing.
Step 5
Make the rest of the covers in the same way. They should all be sewn with the same seam.
Step 6
Make a pattern for the headrests. It is performed by analogy with covers. It is best to use a string as a retainer, which will tighten the headrest cover at the base.
Step 7
Make special pockets for covers. Sew them to the back. In such pockets you can store any useful little thing.
Step 8
Sew up decorative pillows from the remnants of the material, which will give the interior of your car a feeling of home comfort.
