Step 1
Make sure your vehicle is equipped with a tow bar so that you can easily and securely connect a trailer or quickly unhook it back. If there is no towbar on the car, buy it from a specialized store and install it on the back. Most often, installation is carried out using a coupling ball, but, even if it is not provided for by the design, drill sockets in the body and attach the towbar with bolts.
Step 2
In order for the trailer lights to work synchronously with the rear lights of the car, install a socket that connects the electrical circuits. If you have a simple, inexpensive car, plug in the connector using a taillight cut-out.
Step 3
For a vehicle with K-bus or LED tail lights, install the relay box and run the power cable. Take a stranded copper wire as a power wire, with a cross-section of each core of 1.5 sq. Mm and double insulation. Install the control signals to the relay from the rear lights of the car. In order for the connections to be connected correctly, alternate the contacts, and connect the sockets through a special cutout at the bottom.
Step 4
To connect a trailer according to Russian wiring, follow the following diagram: contact No. 1 is needed for the left turn signal (yellow), contact No. 2 is for the fog lamp (blue), contact No. 3 is ground (white), contact No. 4 is for the right direction indicator (green), contact No. 5 - reserve, contact No. 6 - for the brake light (brown), contact No. 7 is required for the side lights (black).
Step 5
Please note that the European layout is slightly different from the Russian one. Contact No. 5 in it is intended for a car or vice versa on a trailer the right side light will not work, but when the left light is turned on, both will work.
Step 6
To connect the contacts, use wires with a cross section of 1.5 square meters. mm. Connect the ground contact using a wire with a cross section of at least 2.5 sq. Mm.
