Installing a compressor on a VAZ is an effective way to increase engine power. By increasing the supply of air to the fuel system, the charge of the fuel-air mixture that enters the cylinder increases accordingly. The reverse side of the compressor installation is increased fuel consumption.

It is necessary

  • - a set of keys
  • - compressor installation kit
  • - abrasive paste
  • - low resistance air filter
  • - boost pressure sensor

Instructions

Step 1

All work should be carried out on a completely cooled engine. Remove the air duct and air filter. Remove the screws securing the intake manifold and polish the pipes. Once the compressor is installed, resistance to air movement should be minimal.

Step 2

Install the "volute" mounting bracket to the engine block and the T-shaped tension roller mounting bracket. Remove the pump and generator drive belt. Instead, tighten the tuning belt provided with the compressor installation kit.

Step 3

Adjust the belt tension. If it is pulled too tight, it will lead to increased wear and tear. If it is too weak, the compressor drive pulley will slip and the engine power will increase slightly. In addition, the working conditions of the cooling system will worsen. At optimal tension, the belt should go no more than 0.5 centimeters if you press on it with your finger.

Step 4

Replace the inlet spider. Install the air duct from the “volute” outlet to the injector inlet. Try to avoid sharp bends of corrugated elements, as well as contact of the duct with hot parts of the engine. Attach the boost pressure gauge to the compressor outlet.

Step 5

Connect a low resistance filter to the compressor inlet. Place the filter in the coldest part of the engine compartment. When compressed, the air heats up and becomes more discharged, so the lower the inlet air temperature, the more it will eventually enter the engine. Thus, the mass of the air-fuel charge will increase, and hence the power.

Step 6

Adjust the injector to the changed air conditions so that the engine does not run "lean". To carry out this operation, you should contact a specialized service. Attach the boost pressure sensor to the dashboard. This device will warn of emerging problems, and will also help economical driving.
