The timing belt or just the timing belt is a closed belt made of rubber with internal notches and used to synchronize the operation of the engine, crankshaft and camshafts.

Experts say that it is quite feasible to change the timing belt on your own, but it does not have much ease, as well as complexity. However, it requires diligence, attention, and following the sequence without haste.

In order to install the timing belt, it is necessary, first of all, to carry out a number of necessary manipulations.

To begin with, it is recommended that in order to remove the generator drive pulley, remove the wheel and casing.

Then it is worth taking care of fixing the shaft in order to prevent the crankshaft from turning at the moment when the belt is being installed. To do this, you need to set the labels, then turn on the fifth gear. Then it is worth pressing the brake and fixing the pedal in this position.

In order to change the timing belt without much difficulty, but quickly and efficiently, you should use the advice of experienced craftsmen, who advise the following manipulations:

Place the belt on the crankshaft pulley.

Pulling both branches of the belt will require not only skill, but also dexterity: it requires accuracy and uniformity of tension. It is necessary to start from the right branch, which must be wound behind the support roller, and then put it on the intake pulley and then on the exhaust camshaft pulley.

Next, the right branch should pass behind the tension roller, which allows both branches to "meet" on the pump pulley.

The belt loop should be fitted snugly over the pump pulley.

After that, it is worth slightly tightening the belt in any convenient way.

It is strictly necessary to monitor the location of the marks and the alignment of the belt edge with the outer edge of the pulleys.

The crankshaft, to check the marks, needs to be cranked two full turns. This procedure only needs to be done manually.

In case of coincidence of marks, it is required to carry out the final tension of the timing belt.

At the next stage, it is necessary to check the belt tension and start the engine, letting it run for a short time in order not only to once again verify the quality of its tension, but also in order to listen to its operation while the car is accelerating.
