The manufacturer recommends changing the coolant in the Chevrolet Niva system at least once every two years. It is also worth replacing if the antifreeze turns yellow, as this indicates that the coolant has lost its properties.
It is necessary
- - spanners;
- - screwdrivers;
- - cotton gloves;
- - container for draining;
- - at least 10 liters of new coolant.
Instructions
Step 1
Drive the car to a horizontal area. If the surface slopes, the machine must be positioned so that the front is lower than the rear.
Step 2
Remove the crankcase guard and mudguard. This is necessary so that when draining the liquid does not spread over the sump. You can also find some kind of drainage device so as not to remove the protection and splash guard.
Step 3
Find the handle of the heater tap in the passenger compartment and turn it counterclockwise until it stops. There is a drain plug on the radiator. Place a container underneath that has a volume of at least ten liters. Unscrew the plug carefully.
Step 4
Find an expansion tank. It is usually light in color. Open the plug on it. Do not jerk too hard so as not to rip the threads on the plastic. Also, excessive force can crack the tank.
Step 5
Locate the drain hole on the cylinder block. Place a container under it and open the cap. This will allow the coolant to drain from the channels in the cylinder block.
Step 6
Flush the cooling system, as a lot of deposits can accumulate on its walls during the period of operation. For flushing, you can fill in distilled water by adding special additives to it that can break down deposits. In this case, the additives must be chosen so that they do not harm the material from which the radiator is made. To thoroughly flush the radiator, use the Karcher mini-sink. Put the sink hose on the radiator hose and turn it on at maximum power. The pressure of the water will wash away all deposits. Clean the outer radiator cells. This will facilitate the flow of air.
Step 7
Fill with new coolant. If you did not flush the system, then you should only fill in the liquid that you used before. If you flushed the cooling system, then you can fill in any type of antifreeze. Pour antifreeze until the liquid level in the expansion tank reaches the maximum mark. Do not overfill as excess coolant can create overpressure that will harm the system.
Step 8
Start the engine and let it warm up. Then stop the car and check the coolant level. Add antifreeze if necessary.
