Despite the seeming simplicity of removable tinting, its self-production has its own nuances, the understanding of which will help make the car more comfortable and aesthetically attractive. You also need to know what material you need to use in this work.
Necessary
- - transparent plastic
- - tinted film
- - ball pen
- - scissors
- - double sided tape
- - clean dry rags
Instructions
Step 1
Car window tinting has its pluses and minuses. The optimal solution for protection from sunlight and prying eyes would be the manufacture and installation of removable tinting. It is a sheet of transparent material cut out in the shape of glass with a tinting film glued to it. You can make such a product yourself.
Step 2
To do this, you need transparent thin plastic with a thickness of 0.5-0.7 mm, but not more than 1 mm. The thicker the material, the more difficult it will be to work with it. Plexiglas or PVC canvases can be used as a basis. But the best choice is polyester, which can be bought from any ad agency. This material is usually rolled into a roll and comes in different thicknesses, so you need to try to choose the most suitable one.
Step 3
In order to cut out a part from it that exactly corresponds to the dimensions of the car glass, it is recommended to make a template in advance from thick paper or thin cardboard. You will also need this sample to cut out the tinted film. A spare glass for a car will greatly simplify the work on the manufacture of removable tinting. It will be very easy to make a template with it.
Step 4
If there is neither glass nor cardboard, you should proceed as follows: attach a polyester cloth to the desired place of the car and draw its contours as accurately as possible with a ballpoint pen. The highest quality tint films are American LLumar, Suntek, SunControl, Johnson. They are available with different shading percentages.
Step 5
At the end of this work, when all the parts of the removable tinting are cut out, the polyester and the film should be fastened together. Double-sided tape can be used for this purpose. Before gluing, both elements must be aligned with each other as closely as possible. Then you need to lift one edge of the film and put a piece of scotch tape into the gap, after which you should press the tinted canvas against the polyester. This must be done several times, gluing the entire perimeter of the removable tinting.
Step 6
If the film is self-adhesive, some difficulties may arise with its application, since polyester is a soft and pliable material. Therefore, work should be started from one edge and, gradually rolling the film, move to the opposite. In order for the mount to be more reliable, the removable tinting must be kept in a warm place for a couple of days. Then it can be installed under the velvet, located along the perimeter of the car glass and, for greater confidence, secure with double-sided tape.
