Even the most accurate motorist will not be able to completely protect his four-wheeled friend from the appearance of chips on the hood and bumper. Remember that small defects on the body subsequently cause corrosion, which compromises the integrity of the car and swells the paint.
Instructions
Step 1
Remove the fuel filler flap and pick up paint from an auto enamel store. You can also find out the number of your paint in the technical description for your car. Be careful - the numbers may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Purchase a primer at the same store; if the chip is strong (to metal), then buy the soil for metal. If not, then by the paintwork. You should also purchase a putty if you want the chip to be repaired with high quality. Buy another spatula, preferably a rubber one.
Step 2
Wash the vehicle well and dry it with a cloth. Do all work in the garage. This will protect the painted area from direct sunlight. Clean the chip up to the factory soil with "zero" sandpaper. Rinse and degrease the scraped surface with acetone. After degreasing, apply a thin layer of primer and blow dry. Grind the resulting surface again with a zero. Add another layer of soil. The procedure must be repeated several times (2-3). Remember that if you own a car that is not the first year, you do not need to clean the surface. The painted area may differ from the whole body for the better, which will immediately catch the eye. Remember that soil can be easily washed off with acetone, and dried soil with gasoline.
Step 3
After applying the primer, inspect the chip (if the lighting is poor, use a lamp). If it is deep, putty it. It is necessary to putty with a small gap in order to align with the main layer of paint. After that, clean off the unnecessary putty with sandpaper (zero).
Step 4
Take a pre-purchased can of matched paint and start applying paint evenly to the putty surface. Read the instructions on the can before applying paint. Remember that the can must be held exactly at the distance indicated in the instructions. If the distance is less than necessary, smudges will result, and if further, the surface will be dull (the paint will dry before it reaches the surface). Do not apply thick paint. It is better to be careful, a little at a time, several times. Before the next layer, clean the previous one with a zero. Refrain from traveling by car on the day of painting. You can stain the newly painted surface.
