Step 1
Remove dirt and rust from the chip. To do this, simply sand it off with sandpaper. Do this just enough so that normal metal appears. Apply putty to the cleaned area. It should be a two-component polyester hardener. Finish the applied layer of putty with a rubber trowel. At the same time, try to keep the layer as thin as possible. When the putty is dry, sand it off with sandpaper. Start with a large one, and moving to a smaller one, end with a "zero". If there are pits left, the filler step will have to be repeated.
Step 2
Apply a primer to the putty. Do this with a brush or swab, if possible - use a spray that will apply the layer more evenly. Try to pick up a primer from the same manufacturer as your paint. In this case, you can be sure that the paint will not peel off the primer after a year. After that, once again go over the surface with fine sandpaper, without removing the primer, so that there are no irregularities.
Step 3

Step 4
If the car is new and has never been repainted, then look in the passport for the number of its paint. Purchase paint with the same number. In this case, having washed the car a couple of times, even the owner himself will not find the place of the chip. If the car has already been repainted, you need to resort to special color matching techniques.
Step 5
Degrease the surface with solvent before painting. If you need to paint over a small area of the chip, apply the paint with a brush or swab. Wait until the layer is completely dry, and use special compounds to polish the applied paint. This work is quite painstaking, polishing is carried out in several stages, over a considerable period of time. Therefore, it is better to use a spray gun by applying the first layer of paint, and after 5-7 minutes the second.
