When an unpleasant sound is heard from under the hood while driving a car equipped with power steering, when turning, moving the control wheel to the extreme right or left position, this phenomenon indicates the presence of an airlock in the system.
Necessary
a 10 mm spanner
Instructions
Step 1
The likelihood of air entering the power steering system most often arises during the maintenance process when the lubricant is being replaced in the specified unit.
Step 2
To avoid such a problem, after removing the used oil and at the time of filling with a new one, do not install the filter element in the tank and fill it with liquid above the control level, which is called "to the eyeballs".
Step 3
After about five minutes of time, the engine starts, and the oil level at this time begins to decrease - it must be topped up, refilling the tank to the required level, until the volume stabilizes.
Step 4
Then the engine stops and the front beam is hung out on a rigid support. After moving the steering wheel to the extreme left position (the motor will not start in any case), a bleed fitting is released on the power steering body, through which the air lock is removed.
Step 5
After oil begins to flow from the fitting, the steering wheel is moved to the extreme right position. The bleed valve remains open and air removal continues.
Step 6
When the steering wheel position remains unchanged after the air escapes and the oil begins to leak, the fitting is twisted.
