Necessary

  • - spare wheel, which must be in the trunk of the car;
  • - a key that must fit the dimensions of the parts on the wheels;
  • - jack;
  • - wheel stops or 1-2 cobblestones from the roadside;
  • - a jar of technical aerosol WD-4 (desirable);
  • - gloves.

Instructions

Step 1

First, choose a location where you will be replacing the wheel. Once parked, put the car in gear and the handbrake. Secure the wheels carefully so that the car cannot even move. Instead of wheel stops, you can use a couple of cobblestones or bricks.

Step 2

Take out the spare wheel and then place it in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle. After that, slightly loosen the nuts of the wheel to be replaced, but in such a way that they still hold it. Such a slight unscrewing is done so that then, by weight, the nuts will easily give in to you.

Step 3

After taking out the jack, fasten it to the stand at a slight angle. Thanks to this, the jack will hold well on the surface and will not go deep into the soil. Next, gently lift the car until the wheel is off the ground. Remember to make sure the structure is securely fixed. In the same raised position of the machine, starting with the lower nuts, unscrew the damaged wheel and place it next to the car.

Step 4

Then install the spare wheel, tighten the nuts well, starting from the topmost one. Tighten fasteners only in a specific order, namely "cross to cross". This will allow you to center the wheel, which is essential for optimal wheel performance. Clamp the parts as tightly as possible, then carefully lower the vehicle with the jack and tighten the mount as far as it will go.

Step 5

Put the old wheel in the trunk, release the car from the clips, remove the used tools. Finally, check the pressure in the new wheel. Pump it up if required. also make sure the tire is air-tight. This completes the work on replacing the wheel.
