Step 1
For thermal insulation of the engine compartment, a special material is used, made on the basis of foamed polymers. On the one hand, facing the heating element, it is covered with aluminum foil, and on the other, it is self-adhesive, with a protective film to facilitate its fixing.

You can buy a heat insulator at any car shop, but its cost at these points repels the consumer from buying. Therefore, in order to save money, many motorists studied construction analogues of the negotiated materials and came to the conclusion that the thermal insulation used to protect buildings and structures is able to adequately cope with the task assigned to it in relation to vehicles.

It should be emphasized that the retail price of thermal insulation materials in shops selling construction goods is an order of magnitude lower than in points of sale of auto parts and accessories.

Some car owners follow the path of least resistance and simply cut out a blanket that covers the engine compartment on top, believing that such a measure will be enough to fully preserve engine heat. Let us disagree with their opinion and dare to suggest a slightly different, alternative way of insulating the engine compartment.

Before starting work, visit a car wash and thoroughly wash the interior surfaces of the engine compartment.

Having driven into the garage, degrease the places of future thermal insulation stickers with acetone or a solvent based on it.

Take old newspapers and make patterns with them to match the interior relief of the hood.

Cut the patterns from the heat-insulating material, remove the protective film from them and glue them on the inner surface of the hood.

If there is a desire to further reduce the heat loss coefficient, then glue several layers of thermal insulation, closing them on top with a solid piece in the shape of the hood.

Please note that all your efforts will be in vain if the engine compartment seal does not fit around the entire perimeter of the hood. The cost of purchasing a new rubber band will pay off by saving fuel while warming up the engine.
