An injection engine, unlike a carburetor, is not subject to constant clogging of the fuel filter, does not need to be periodically adjusted after a certain mileage. Therefore, it is highly respected by motorists, and many prefer to replace the carburetor with an injector.

Instructions

Step 1

Remove the head of the block, completely remove the ignition system and all fuel pipes located under the hood. Disconnect the generator and thermostat. After that, replace the removed standard gas tank with a new one, which is intended for injection models.

Step 2

Remove the installed cylinder head, then completely dismantle the carburetor and electrical wiring, which also needs to be replaced. Disconnect the cooling system pipes carefully, taking care not to get any liquid on the skin.

Step 3

Disconnect the pan and install new pistons from the injector to replace the old ones. This replacement is due to the fact that the carburetor pistons have a lower compression ratio. Install a new oil pump and cooling system. Prepare the site for the sixteen-valve head. To do this, shorten the bolts of the old head and, if necessary, drill holes in the new one.

Step 4

Replace the fuel tank and connect it to the new lines. Connect the wiring harness to the fuel pump from the control unit. After that, make a hole in which to install the knock sensor unit. Replace the pump and crankcase breather that you purchased with the dipstick.

Step 5

Remove the protrusions at the interface between the head and the collectors, and then mount the head, after installing a new gasket. Put on the thermostat and connect the coolant hoses. Install the belt and the driven alternator. You can leave the old temperature sensor, purchase the rest of the sensors for the injection engine.

Step 6

Reinstall the valve cover, pre-treating the surface with sealant. Connect the wiring to the gauges, dashboard and ignition switch. Then fit a new exhaust system. Fill the system with coolant, oil and fuel and check the performance of the updated engine.
