Headlights are one of the most important elements in ensuring the safe operation of your car at night. They must be in good working order, clean and completely let in light.

Necessary

  • - masking tape;
  • - grinder, drill or screwdriver;
  • - abrasive wheels with grain size 1000, 2000, 4000;
  • - polish;
  • - sponge;
  • - water;
  • - keys set;
  • - screwdrivers;
  • - soft matter.

Instructions

Step 1

The restored headlights stop dazzling oncoming traffic, increase the illumination of the road at night by thirty percent and improve the car's appearance. When choosing a grinding method for your headlights, you can rub them with plastic polish. But this method is ineffective - after a couple of weeks, the paste will be washed off, and the headlights of your car will take on their former unsightly look.

Step 2

Use the headlight grinding method with abrasive material. Thoroughly wash the headlights, dry and cover the adjacent surface of the car with masking tape so as not to damage the body coating during operation. It is advisable to dismantle easily removable parts of the machine - the radiator grill and direction indicators.

Step 3

Get a sander, and if you don't have one, use a drill with attachment or screwdriver. Attach a disc of wear-resistant abrasive to a cloth backing using the special velcro. For initial surface treatment, install a 1200 grit bit.

Step 4

Please note that all abrasive wheels must be wet before use for more efficient use, less wear and tear. Take two to three minutes for each sanding step. Carry out the first machine treatment, after which the entire surface should be evenly matt.

Step 5

After removing the top layer of the headlight, damaged by scratches and microcracks, rinse the plastic with water. Repeat the same steps using 2000 and 4000 grit abrasive wheels. Remember that after the final sanding, the entire surface should be almost transparent.

Step 6

Rinse and lightly wipe the headlamp, leaving the surface slightly damp. Apply a small amount of finishing paste to a soft cloth and buff the headlight by hand for ten minutes.
