The correct operation of the engine depends on the tightness of the intake and exhaust valves. If the vehicle malfunctions and power is lost, check the condition of these important parts. You can turn to a car service for diagnostics and help, but with an effort, you will cope with the problem yourself.
It is necessary
- - metal rod;
- - rubber hose;
- - clamp;
- - diamond paste;
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the lapping tool. Use a drill, and if you don't have one, make the fixture yourself. Take a metal rod, put on it a rubber hose 20 cm long and with a diameter that fits the valve. The connection between the hose and the metal rod must be secured with a screw clamp.
Step 2
Remove the cylinder head. To do this, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, the wires of the coolant temperature and oil pressure sensors. Move the piston 1 of the cylinder to the compression position and drain the coolant. Disconnect the muffler pipe from the manifold and the thermostat.
Step 3
Remove the camshaft cover and air filter. Now you can remove the head cover. Secure the camshaft toothed pulley from turning by resting a screwdriver on the stud located in its hole. Disconnect the camshaft drive belt from the toothed pulley. Remove the pulley bolt and washer. Remove the pulley from the camshaft with two screwdrivers.
Step 4
Loosen the clamp and disconnect the hose from the fuel pump. Remove the center wire from the ignition distributor. Disconnect the block with wires from the ignition by squeezing the spring clip. Disconnect the amplifier tube and hose from the vacuum corrector. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the heater hose. Now remove the 10 mounting bolts and lift the head of the block. Slide it so that the end of the camshaft comes out of the drive belt cover.
Step 5
Remove the valves from the head and thoroughly clean them and the seats with gasoline. Now insert the valve into the head. Apply diamond paste to the saddle. Place the made tool on the valve stem. If you are using a drill, insert the valve into its chuck. Gently rotate the stem in all directions, pressing it against the seat.
Step 6
Observe the color of the seat and valve periodically. A solid gray tone is a sign that you have achieved the required tightness. After lapping, thoroughly flush the valve with gasoline, removing the remaining paste. Now put all the parts in place.
