The lifespan of the suspension elements depends to some extent on the driving style of the person driving the vehicle, but the condition of the road surface plays the most important role in this.
It just so happened that if in Europe, with its "mirror" autobahns, the driver does not have to worry about the state of the suspension, then domestic motorists need to diagnose the chassis as often as possible. Timely checking of some important components of the VAZ car suspension can save you from many troubles on the way.
Checking anthers and bushings
Having put the car "on the pit", the first step is to check the integrity of the anthers of some parts, for example, the constant velocity joint (CV joint). Anthers, which are a kind of rubber boots, protect important suspension components from dust and dirt, so even a small crack in the boot is the reason for its early replacement. It is much more logical to replace a penny part than to spend a substantial amount on the CV joint itself.
Bushings for suspension arms and suspension arms, as well as shock absorber eyelets, are other details that provide ride comfort, protecting the car body from hard road impacts. A worn bushing usually looks either torn or cracked. A set of "rubber bands" for a domestic car is also inexpensive, so you need to change them without hesitation for a long time.
Checking shock absorbers
Shock absorbers also have their own service life, which is noticeably reduced when traveling on domestic roads. The main damage to a shock absorber is fluid loss. The elimination of this problem is realistic only if the part is collapsible. If the one-piece shock absorber "drips", you will have to buy a new one.
Checking the condition of the shock absorbers does not take much time and is done visually. So, if oil drips are observed on the parts, it must be urgently changed. You can check the condition of this suspension unit by swinging the car from each side. If the car sways for a long time by inertia (on the springs themselves), then the shock absorber is faulty. The disadvantage of this diagnostic method is that you can only check a really "killed" shock absorber.
Suspension cracks
On VAZ cars, over time, both the front and rear suspension may fail. You can determine the malfunction by examining the suspension arms near the ball bearings, silent blocks, under the spring stops.
The levers, as well as the lateral thrust of the front suspension, need to be replaced as soon as possible if they show cracks, even the smallest ones. It is not recommended to eliminate this malfunction by welding; it is better to purchase a new part.
Cracks also appear over time on metal wheel rims, forming near bolt holes or ventilation windows. If you have these shortcomings, you should change the disk. If this is not possible, you need to carefully inspect the wheel after each strong impact.
