A car seat cover is a great way to update the look of your interior. By using additional options such as heating, you can also increase the comfort for both driver and passengers.
Instructions
Step 1
When buying, first of all, make sure that the covers fit your interior not only in color, but also in size, even if you take them for a specific car model. Your best bet is to try and attach the covers immediately after purchase. Choose a material that is sturdy and resistant to scuffs. One of the best options would be genuine leather.
Step 2
Check the product for manufacturing defects immediately after purchasing. Stretch it and inspect the seams carefully, reinforce them if necessary. Replace tightening. Often, its strength is not enough to pull the cover well. The best substitute would be a strong twine or thin wire. Use a pin to thread the string. In case you are using wire, make sure that it is not so thick that it interferes with tightening, but also not so thin that it will tear the fabric when tightening.
Step 3
You should also replace the straps used for tensioning, as they often have insufficient strength. Use a wide nylon cord. You can usually buy it at a fishing store. Sew it in place of the straps for a higher tension.
Step 4
Order the cover from the service or do it yourself. In case you decide to make it yourself, it is advisable to remove the chairs. You can often hear that this operation can be performed without removing the seats, but in this case you run the risk of not pulling the fabric tight enough, which is fraught not only with the fact that the covers will “sit” badly on the chairs, but also with the fact that they will become unusable faster. Dismantle the seats by carefully unscrewing the fasteners with which they are fixed in the passenger compartment. Place the seat cover on the seat, then tighten and secure. Make sure the knots are tied securely and then put the seats back into the cabin.
