Often, the declared characteristics of the car differ from those in reality. For example, you may notice that gas mileage is significantly higher than the manufacturer's specified figure. Do not rush to blame anyone, because fuel consumption depends largely on driving style, season of the year, traffic congestion and the technical condition of the car.

If you want to check the real gas consumption of your car, the simplest and most correct way would be the following: First, you need to fill your car to a full tank and notice the odometer reading. Now, after you have driven 20-30 km, you should visit the gas station again, notice the new odometer readings, and refuel again until the tank is full, remembering the amount of fuel filled. It is this amount of fuel that your car has consumed over the distance traveled.
For example, before the first refueling, your odometer showed 25 210 km, and by the time of the second refueling, 25 230 km. The second time you fill up exactly 2L. It turns out that for 20 km the fuel consumption was 2 liters, and for 100 km this figure will increase to 10 liters. It turns out that the fuel consumption of your car is 10 liters per 100 km.
