Often a car has a problem with the ignition, which is a rather serious defect that brings a lot of trouble. You can adjust the ignition yourself if you know how to set the optimal ignition timing.
Instructions
Step 1
Before making adjustments, follow a series of preliminary steps. First, disconnect the vacuum hose that is attached to the vacuum arm on the motor. Then connect the positive clip of the strobe to the positive clip of the battery. This is necessary so that further adjustment of the ignition timing is more convenient and simple.
Step 2
After that, find the tip of the high-voltage wire, which is located on the distributor cap, in one of the cylinders. Pull it out carefully. After that, you can begin to carry out the adjustment by switching the negative terminal of the ignition system to the negative terminal of the battery.
Step 3
Insert the stroboscope sensor as carefully as possible into the socket of the cylinder from which you pulled the high-voltage wire. Remember to connect it to the wire that is in the first cylinder. Switch on the ignition and start the engine. Shine the strobe light towards the clutch hatch. Adjust the ignition time using a rubber plug located on the clutch housing hatch.
Step 4
Look closely at the engine flywheel, where the flashing stream from the strobe will appear to be a fixed point. If the ignition timing is set correctly, this point will be located between the midpoint of the flywheel and its previous division. Otherwise, loosen the nuts that are on the distributor for the ignition flywheel.
Step 5
After setting the point at the specified location, disconnect the strobe sensor and reassemble the parts in reverse order. Be sure to check the operation of the adjusted ignition system by inserting the key into the ignition switch and start the engine.
