Natural laziness lives in everyone, so everyone is looking for easy ways out of this situation. There are two ways to remove the heater radiator on Kalina. The first is the way the car designers advise. You must first dismantle the panel. The second one is more barbaric, but it is a little simpler, since the panel does not have to be removed.
One of the most successful models of AvtoVAZ in recent years is the Lada Kalina. On its basis, tuned cars are created, which, in terms of convenience, control, practically do not differ from cars of foreign production. In fact, Kalina is the successor to the famous ten, which has been modernized for many years, its characteristics have been constantly improved. The heating system in Kalina, as in all previous models, is a radiator included in the cooling system.
"Snail", as it is popularly called for its external resemblance to a representative of the animal world, is designed to distribute air throughout the car interior. Multiple baffles direct the airflow generated by the fan towards the rear passengers, towards the driver, and onto the windshield. But here one flaw in Kalina came to light after several years of operation. Numerous customer complaints started. The fact is that the ECU is located directly under the heater radiator. If the radiator leaks, then soon the ECU may fail, and its cost is rather big.
The first way to remove the stove
Yes, there are several ways. When detecting a leak, you should not rely on the Russian maybe and tempt fate. Try to monitor the state of the heating system, otherwise a "surprise" may await you at the most inopportune moment. So, the first method, which is also the main one, is that it is necessary to dismantle the entire panel, and only then remove the snail and pull the radiator out of it.
Do not forget, of course, to drain the antifreeze (or antifreeze) from the cooling system in advance. It is also necessary to disconnect the pipes from the radiator to the faucet. When carrying out work, try not to miss the slightest detail, otherwise you can harm the car. Carefully remove all plugs and lay them so as not to catch the wires later. Having removed the snail, you can easily remove the radiator from it and repair it. Of course, this is pointless, it is much easier to replace it, since the cost is not very high.
The second method of dismantling
It can be called "barbaric", although it is often used. This is not to say that it is much simpler, but you will not have to dismantle the parprise and completely disconnect all the wiring (therefore, during assembly there is no possibility that you will forget to connect something). The essence of the method is that you need to remove the gas pedal, which is attached to three nuts. After removing the electric power steering, after removing the decorative trim.
You will also need to remove the brake pedal, but if possible, move it to the side. Now the matter is small - we cut off the hoses and make a cut at the radiator seat. The radiator can now be pulled out from the driver's side. Do not forget to drain the coolant before starting work. And when draining, open the stove faucet so that all the antifreeze comes out of the radiator.
