The import of a car to Ukraine provides for the payment of customs duties and payments if you need to import it for the purpose of further sale. However, in certain cases, taxes are not paid when importing a car.
Instructions
Step 1
Go through the customs clearance procedure if you are a resident of Ukraine and you need to import a deregistered car for the purpose of selling it (a resident is a legal entity or individual who is permanently registered or permanently residing in this country). In this case, the car must not be older than 8 years. To import a car, you will have to issue a declaration and pay the import duty, excise duty and VAT at the border. The customs office also inspects the car for the purpose of sanitary and hygienic and environmental control.
Step 2
Go through the car import clearance at the domestic customs point. In this case, the machine is inspected again. After paying the fee, you will be given a permit to register your car with the State Traffic Inspectorate of Ukraine.
Step 3
You can avoid paying customs duties when importing a car to Ukraine if you are a non-resident of this state and you need a car for personal use (a non-resident is a legal or natural person operating in one state, but permanently registered and residing in another). In this case, the car must be registered in Russia. In this case, it is called “temporary export of a car” and you do not need to fill out a customs declaration at the border for it, you do not need to pay duty and fees.
Step 4
To sell a car in Ukraine imported in this way, a non-resident must be deregistered in Russia, disposed of by a notary, go through a car inspection at customs and pay duty, excise duty, tax and VAT.
Step 5
If you are a non-resident of Ukraine and import a car registered in Russia, then you will need a certificate of registration of the vehicle, or a power of attorney certified by a notary with the mark “with the right to travel abroad”, if you are not the owner of the car. Naturally, you must have a driver's license.
Step 6
Purchase a Ukrainian policy of compulsory insurance of civil liability of a car owner. It can be issued in front of a Russian checkpoint or after a Ukrainian checkpoint.
Step 7
Register a car temporarily imported into the territory of Ukraine at the State Traffic Inspectorate after two months from the date of import of this car, or simply "update" this period by leaving the border of Ukraine and returning back.
Step 8
You can avoid paying customs duties when importing a car if you are moving to Ukraine for permanent residence, as well as if you are a resident of Ukraine and inherited a car in Russia.
Step 9
Keep in mind that if you are a resident of Ukraine, then you can drive a car temporarily imported into its territory only in the presence of a non-resident person for whom the car is registered, otherwise the car will face a penalty area and the owner is subject to a large fine. By a court decision, the car can generally be confiscated.
