Some avid car lovers prefer to test their steel horses off-road, deliberately creating unbearable conditions for the car. They drive in places that are practically impassable for cars. Of course, the percentage of such people is small. But in addition to such tests, you can often meet people who just like to get out into nature in large companies. Of course, a good four-wheel drive car is an indispensable thing in this business, but for complete safety in off-road conditions, you will also need mud tires.
What is it?
Few people have heard of the existence of this class of tires, but they have appeared for a long time. The design of this type of tire differs from the base rubber. The composition of the rubber itself, from which these tires are made, is very tough, the tread pattern is quite specific. The tread pattern is based on a lug, which helps the car to maintain stability and cling to even the softest soil. Also, these tires have a very high profile, and accordingly, the tire pressure has a completely different gradation than that of standard wheels. Due to these qualities, the car very easily overcomes difficult areas (sand, eroded soil, stone), confidently keeps on steep slopes and practically does not slip. If we talk about quality, then the most effective will be tires from well-known manufacturers. Of course, you can buy something cheaper, because the cost of such tires is considerable, but there will be little benefit from such tires.
What is the disadvantage of these tires?
As already mentioned, the composition of the rubber from which these tires are made is very tough. In city driving conditions, this stiffness will be felt more strongly. In addition, due to the stiffness, the noise from the tires increases, and also hard rubber wears off faster on the asphalt, respectively, and the service life of such tires is much shorter. It is also strictly forbidden to use mud tires in winter. Many people think that in slush conditions the car will keep better on the road, but this is not the case. And in severe frosts, the tire simply freezes over and can burst right on the go. Well, to the disadvantages, rather to the features, it is worth adding that such tires are installed only on special wheels that you will have to buy, and, accordingly, spend more money.
