If the tests of the driver reveal from 0.3 to 0.7 ppm (this is approximately a couple of glasses of beer), he can be fined 20,000 rubles. Plus, the violator will be deprived of his rights for a year. If from 0.7 to 1.5 ppm of alcohol is found in the driver's blood, the fine will be more severe - 50,000 rubles. and deprivation for 2 years. 1, 5-2 ppm imply a punishment of 100,000 rubles. a fine and deprivation of rights for a period of 3 years. Strong intoxication, or 3 ppm, is 200,000 rubles. a fine and a ban on driving for 5 years.
Since a Russian man is knee-deep in the sea, he may well get behind the wheel again in a state of alcoholic intoxication and after he was deprived of his license. Therefore, legislators are trying to develop a bill that would provide for such an offense not only administrative responsibility, but also criminal. As an option, an amendment is being considered, which will allow to confiscate the car from the driver, who got behind the wheel in a drunken state not for the first time.
Other countries have long had tough laws against such offenders. So, for example, in China, a driver who committed an accident while drunk with a fatal outcome will be shot. If the driver is re-caught drunk while driving, he will be sent for compulsory treatment for alcoholism in a specialized clinic.
