Camber-convergence are important parameters on which the directional stability and durability of tires depends. The angle tolerance is calculated in tenths of a degree, and their safety depends on the operating conditions of the machine.
In the most common case, wheel alignment is done after each replacement of any suspension part, in other words, after each, even the smallest, repairs. For example, replacing the upper support cup of only one strut causes an imperceptible roll of the car (about 2 mm) and changes the camber-toe angles of all wheels. Always use the services of specialists who have at their disposal a computer stand for adjusting the camber-toe-in. At such a stand, an experienced craftsman will be able to find backlash imperceptible to the touch, thanks to which you will be promptly informed about the upcoming repair of the undercarriage of the machine.
Even if you don't do anything with the suspension, over time, the springs under load will gradually sag, which slightly decreases the ground clearance. The design of the suspension is arranged in such a way that the camber angle and the toe angle of this wheel change from the position of the wheel in height, so it is advisable to check the camber-convergence and, if necessary, adjust it once a year, preferably in the spring. If you installed new springs on the car, do the camber first immediately after the repair, then after a month, since the ground clearance during this time will decrease by 2-3 cm. Therefore, change the springs before winter - this way you can minimize rubber wear due to constantly changing camber-convergence angles.
Do camber every time you change the vehicle's ground clearance using spacers or otherwise. Moreover, when you change the wheels to others - larger or smaller - the camber-convergence is not necessary, since the angles do not change from this. For the best road performance and the least impact on wheel alignment, use wheels of the same size and discs of the same width.
If you are installing any heavy equipment on the machine, weighing 30 kg on the rear axle or 100 kg on the front axle, be sure to do the wheel alignment. Regardless of where the additional weight was placed in the car, camber will have to be done for all four wheels.
