When a car enthusiast asks the question, "Why does the wheel creak?" He means the creak of the brake pads. A similar problem can arise even in a new car. The braking system may not be damaged in this case, but an unpleasant sound will interfere with driving.

One of the reasons for wheel squeak may be the use of brand new brake pads. If new pads squeak, it is recommended to wait 2 to 3 days, after which the squeak may subside. This squeak may be due to the presence of a certain layer of impurity on the new brake pad. This impurity is the cause of the unpleasant sound. To cope with this problem faster, you can resort to accelerating the car to 100 km / h, and then hard braking. After several attempts like this, the brake pads will warm up and the impurities will burn out.

Another reason for squeaking is the presence of a wear indicator on the brake pad (metal plate). When the pad wear becomes excessive, the brake disc starts to come into contact with the metal plate, resulting in a characteristic unpleasant sound. In this case, replace the brake pads immediately. If you are using new pads, but the wear indicator is also in contact with the brake disc, you can conclude that the metal plate is poorly attached. For this reason, metal parts come into contact and, therefore, a creak appears.

The most common cause of wheel squeak is poor brake pad material. It may well turn out that you purchased fake parts for the car or real pads, but from a defective batch. Poor quality parts can cause damage to the brake disc, after which you will need to change both discs and pads. Therefore, it is urgently necessary to replace the parts that are causing the squeak.

However, the issue is not always about quality. It may turn out that the new brake pads are incompatible with the discs of your car, as some manufacturers produce products from different components that are not suitable for all models and brands of cars.
