Varieties and principle of work

The correct sensor must be selected before installation. It can be external or internal. The first one is mounted instead of the spool. The device locks the air in the tire and monitors the pressure. It can show the change in pressure by adjusting the hue. This view has several disadvantages. The main thing is rapid wear, since the sensor itself is in no way protected from exposure.

Internal - air duct with built-in sensor. It is inside the rubber and cannot be twisted or removed. The disadvantages include the high price. When choosing a device with maximum capabilities, it can go up to 80 thousand rubles.

According to the principle of work, they are divided:

Mechanical sensors. The simplest ones are outdoor. Air masses press on the device, causing the signaling cap to mix. At normal pressure, it shows a green color, with a red tint, it is necessary to inflate and check the integrity of the tire.

Electronic varieties. They have a more complex structure. They come in the form of caps, but there are models for indoor installation. The measurement of indicators takes place using special chips. They measure the pressure and transmit the readings to a special display. When the red light turns on, it is worth checking the wheel.

Electronic versions with internal fastening. The most modern, equipped with a small computer that reads information from all wheels and makes a breakdown of the data when fed to the display. Such views can show the temperature of the wheel, transfer information to a smartphone.

Systems are additionally divided into direct and indirect. The former include those that measure the pressure in the wheel. Such systems are produced both for installation as standard ones, they can be used additionally. Indirect monitoring - settings that show the temperature of the tire. As the pressure drops, the rubber starts to heat up. Temperature monitoring provides an estimate of the pressure drop. The correctness of the indicators decreases at low speeds or on wet road surfaces.

Installation instructions for external sensors

Installing mechanical sensors is very simple - just screw them in instead of the standard caps. No additional settings are required. Remember, however, that the rear and front wheels have different pressure ratings. Therefore, you should purchase and install installations for different nominal pressures in the range of 1, 8-3, 6 atmospheres. With intensive use of the vehicle, they will last about a year.

Installing an electrical view

To establish the electronic type, you will need to remove and disassemble the wheel, remove the pump valve. After that, the measuring device is screwed in. Further actions are performed depending on the selected type:

The standard connection assumes the use of an on-board network. Cable routing is provided to connect power to the system.

Wireless involves turning on the signal and setting up Bluetooth. Additionally, power supply elements are selected into the system itself. For these purposes, finger-type batteries are used.

Installation of internal sensors

A tire changer is required for this type. The procedure is similar to the one that occurs when changing tires. It is necessary to ensure that the initial position of the paw is opposite the sensor. This will ensure maximum tightness. After installation, in accordance with the rules specified in the instructions for the device, inflate the wheel, check the installation is correct. After you need:

  • download and install the appropriate application;
  • connect the remote control to the radio;
  • get trained.

For the latter, select any one wheel on the display, put it into learning mode. Now it remains to deflate and inflate the tire. This will provide up-to-date pressure information. The same procedure should be carried out with other wheels.

Recommendations

Pay attention to the metals of the threaded connection of the sensor and the valve itself. Metals are different, sometimes they actively enter into an electrochemical reaction. In some cases, if you need to pump up the wheels, you will have to cut the installation, and not twist it. This can be avoided if such a combination as aluminum-brass is not allowed.

Each pressure sensor has its own identification code. When rearranging tires or replacing one or more sensors, the codes must be matched with the location of the wheels and tires. The setting is always in order:

  • left front wheel;
  • right front;
  • right back;
  • left rear.

Experts do not recommend exceeding the maximum allowable air pressure. This indicator can be read on the side of the rubber. The pointed end of the air vent cap or a pocket gauge can be used to reduce the pressure.

  1. Rewrite or photograph the sensor numbers before installing. Remember that devices for American cars are not suitable for European ones and vice versa.

  5. The most sensitive parts to damage are valves. They need to be handled more carefully than with a standard valve.
  6. It is not recommended to buy used pressure systems or their individual elements, since there is no provision for changing the accumulator for wheel sensors.

In conclusion, we note that in order for the sensors to serve for a long time, it is better to leave the car in a warm garage for long-term storage in winter. Do not store wheels with devices in a lowered state. It is necessary to remove external sensors when the car is parked for a long time, and during its operation, keep it clean.
