Today, the fuel injector is an indispensable attribute of all engines of the Volga Automobile Plant. This modern part ensures the economy of the car, improves its operational characteristics when compared with the carburetor models that have become a thing of the past. Theoretically, the nozzle can serve 70-80 thousand kilometers without maintenance, but in practice, taking into account the "peculiarities" of Russian gasoline, after 30-40 thousand you have to clean this part, and by 100 thousand you can think about replacing it.

Signs of malfunctioning injectors

The timing of replacing injectors is determined not only by the quality of gasoline, but also by the correct operation of other units and even by the driving style, which affects the rate of engine wear. Therefore, if after 30-40 thousand run the engine works normally, nothing should be done in advance. But if the car often suddenly starts to stall, the fuel consumption has risen, and the power has dropped, then this is already a reason to think about replacing the injectors. Secondary signs are contaminated exhaust and an involuntary change in engine speed. However, before starting to replace the injectors, it is still recommended to go through the diagnostics, because the cause of the malfunction may lie in other units.

Flushing nozzles

This operation will extend the service life of the described injection engine part and save you from purchasing expensive new spare parts. The period of the next flushing is usually in the range from 20 to 40 thousand kilometers; and if we talk about time, then the procedure must be repeated at least once a year. Better, of course, to do it earlier. If the operation time is delayed and flushing starts, for example, after 70 thousand km of run, then cleaning the nozzles can bring serious problems. The fact is that resinous deposits washed off by chemistry can clog a high-pressure fuel pump (injection pump), the repair of which is quite expensive and its cost is incomparable with the cost of flushing the nozzles or even replacing them.

It is better to carry out diagnostics in a specialized technical center, but it is quite possible to clean the nozzles on your own: there is a large selection of appropriate products in stores. After the procedure for flushing the car, the power will noticeably "increase", the start-up in winter will be easier, the consumption of gasoline will drop (up to 15-20%). Therefore, if the speedometer is still far from 100,000, it is more logical to clean the injectors rather than purchase new ones.
