Talk about the introduction of a luxury tax has been going on for a long time. Moreover, several different types of property will fall under the taxation item at once - from apartments and antiques to powerful cars. The tax rate for the owners of such vehicles is proposed to be raised several times.
One of the proposals of the Ministry of Finance is to introduce an increased transport tax for powerful premium cars on the territory of the country from the beginning of 2013. Moreover, it must be installed so that local self-government bodies cannot reduce it on their own. According to the idea of experts of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, it is planned to impose a tax on car owners of passenger cars with an engine capacity of more than 410 horsepower at a rate of 300 rubles per "horse". That is, the minimum tax will be 123,000 rubles. At the same time, local municipal authorities can increase this rate at their discretion.
The only restriction on the application of this tax applies to the year of manufacture of the vehicle. So, only the car that was produced after 2000 is subject to taxation.
In addition, a bonus is assumed for sports cars that are used for their intended purpose, i.e. only participate in car competitions. The new tax will not apply to them.
The increase in the transport tax is a forced measure. After all, all road repairs are carried out at the expense of funds collected from motorists. And, as you know, there is always not enough money in Russia, and therefore it is necessary to look for additional sources of replenishment of the treasury. Wealthy people who can afford an expensive car are well suited for this purpose. A powerful car, according to experts, has a worse effect on the condition of the roadway. After all, it is heavier, which means that more money should be taken from it to restore damaged asphalt.
Experts have even identified a number of car brands whose owners already need to prepare additional funds to pay transport tax. These include Maybach, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, Bentley, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Chevrolet Corvette, six-liter Mercedes and BMW 7 Series.
