Replacing bearings in a gearbox is not straightforward. First, in order to replace them, you need to disassemble the engine almost completely. Secondly, the bearings are rigidly mounted and not easy to remove. But still, there are some simple methods that will help you in this difficult task.

Instructions
Step 1
Open the hood and start disassembling the engine. As you disassemble, be sure not to miss the bolts, otherwise you will not be able to remove the parts, and you can simply break them. Pay particular attention to the location of all shims and thrust washers and remove with great care. Be careful not to damage them when disassembling.
Step 2
When you get to the gearbox, you will need to heat the part housing around the bearing to get it out. Try not to overheat the gearbox housing, otherwise it may deform. The best solution is to split the whole procedure into several approaches. A gas burner can also ignite the grease, so it is recommended that the heating procedure be carried out outdoors rather than indoors.
Step 3
Pull the bearing out of the groove. Inspect the gearbox to see which direction to pull the bearing. In most cases, they can only be moved in one direction. To do this, press on the bearing from the back. In some cases, the bearing is only accessible from one side. In such a situation, it is necessary to use a hammer and chisel. Insert the chisel into the groove near the bearing and hit it with a hammer several times. Then move the chisel to a different position and hit again. After a while, the part will completely come out of the recess.
Step 4
After you have removed the old part, insert the new one and hit it several times with a hammer. To avoid damaging the new bearing with a hammer, place the old one over it and hit the old bearing. This will prevent possible problems and will help to correctly install the new part in the right place. Then apply sealant to the space between the bearing and the gearbox. This will securely hold it in place.
Step 5
After that, reassemble all the parts in reverse order. Your notes and cards on the bags will help you with this. After assembly, check the engine for leaks and start it up.
