It is possible to conclude that the wheel bearing on the Lada Kalina car is out of order by the characteristic sounds (noise, buzzing), which became clearly audible while driving.

Unwanted noises, indicating a broken hub bearing, are amplified when cornering and when driving on uneven roads. If you raise the car with a jack and turn the wheel, in the hub of which the bearing "flew", then the backlash will be very noticeable, accompanied by the same unpleasant sounds of iron rubbing.

Before starting work

In order to change the hub bearing, it is not at all necessary to contact a service station. With the right tools, you can do everything yourself. Before starting work, you should place the car on a level surface, and it is better to use a viewing ditch or lift. You need to have a universal set of tools, a jack, lubricants with you.

Procedure

First you need to remove the hub cap. After that, with the help of a chisel, it is necessary to straighten the dented shoulder of the bearing nut, tighten the "handbrake", turn on the first gear and substitute the "shoes" under the wheels of the car.

After the above steps have been completed, using a 30 mm socket, it is necessary to loosen the hub bearing nut. By the way, the tool must be of high quality and durable, since in order to unscrew the nut of the hub bearing, it is necessary to apply a sufficiently large effort.

After unscrewing the nut, loosen the wheel bolts, then use a jack to raise the car and remove the wheel. To prevent the brake pad guide, caliper and brake disc from hanging on the brake hose, they should be tied up with a rope or wire.

Next, unscrew the hub bearing nut to the end and remove the washer. After that, it is necessary to pass through the holes in the brake disc the bolts having a length of about 130 mm and screw them into the holes in the hub. After a few hits with the brake disc on the bolts, the hub can be pressed out.

After the hub is pressed out, it is necessary to unscrew the fastening of the ball joint, with which it is attached to the steering knuckle. Remove the CV joint (constant velocity joint) from the hub, turn the hub and knock it out of the steering knuckle.

The next step is to remove the retaining ring and press the bearing into the steering knuckle cup. In order to remove the bearing ring, which, as a rule, sits very tightly in its place, you can use a special tool - a puller.

After removing the hub bearing, it is necessary to clean and lubricate the inner surface of the steering knuckle. Having pressed a new bearing into the fist, all further actions should be performed in the reverse order.
