Parktronic is useful when parking. For beginners, he will render a huge service, because it is not immediately possible to assess the dimensions of the car. But budget cars are not equipped with parking sensors, so you have to buy them separately and install them yourself, or at a service station.

Parktronic is an indispensable assistant for beginners and experienced drivers. Its correct name is a parking radar, from this name you can see the principle of operation of the device. Radar sensors are installed on the car, which, detecting an obstacle in front of them, send a signal to the central unit. The latter transmits information to the display in the cabin, which is necessary for visual control by the driver.

Sensors are devices that send and receive a signal. The wave emanates from the sensor, and when an obstacle appears in its path, it is reflected and returned. And if you know two parameters - travel time and speed, then you can calculate the distance. This is the logic behind the central block that processes all the data. The sensors are installed both in the front of the vehicle and in the rear.

Installing sensors in the front bumper

Parktronic is sold as a kit, which includes a central unit, display, sensors, wiring, a special drill. Place the center unit in the most convenient location. It is best to install it under the dashboard. For fasteners, you can use both self-tapping screws and double-sided tape.

Before installing the sensors, you will have to do the bumper markings. Usually two radars are placed in front, as visibility is good here. This means that you need to drill holes on both sides with the drill that was included in the kit, and then mount the sensors. If the color of the detector differs from the color of the bumper, then you can paint the sensor, having previously selected the color. So it will not be very conspicuous.

Install the sensors and run the wires towards the driver's side under the bumper. Fastening the wires is best done using cable ties. Route the wires under the hood and pull them together with the harness that goes into the passenger compartment. Now it remains only to connect the wires correctly, since they are all marked.

Installing sensors in the rear bumper

The unit is installed near the driver, so you need to pull the wires from the rear bumper through the entire cabin. But there is a small nuance that should not be forgotten: the sensors should only turn on when reversing. So, you need to disassemble one of the lampshades and find the wire that goes to the reverse signal. You need to connect to it a wire that you run to the central unit.

At an equal distance from each other, drill holes in the bumper for the sensors. Install the radars and run the wires under the bumper. Fastening with clamps, cut off excess pieces with scissors. Route the wires to the trunk and tie them to the cable from the reverse signal. The best option would be to lay the wires with a harness going to the taillights, because it will stretch from the dashboard.

You just have to lift the seats and the carpet, it will take time. It is much easier to lay the parking sensors wires under the plastic decorative panels. These are located both along the edge of the ceiling and at the bottom of the cabin. When you bring the cable to the unit, connect the wires according to the marking.
