Parking sensors, which make life so easy for a motorist, sometimes fail. This happens because the sensors themselves are located on the bumper and are constantly exposed to low temperatures and humidity. The period of uninterrupted operation of parking sensors is 2-4 years. After that, problems begin, and the parking sensors need to be completely or partially dismantled.

  • Screwdriver
  • Side cutters

Instructions

Step 1

To turn off the parking sensors, you need to find its block. It is usually installed in the luggage compartment on the right or left, or under the dashboard on the driver's side. A more precise location of the unit can be found by looking at the wire coming from the display.

Step 2

Disconnect the power from the unit - cut off the 2 wires that go to the + and the ground of the car.

Step 3

From the parking sensor unit, wires go directly to the sensors located in the rear and / or front bumpers. The wires can be pulled out of the connectors and can be bit through with side cutters

Step 4

The big question is the sensors themselves on the bumper. If they are no longer working, then they must be removed from the holes. But in this case, holes will remain on the bumper. You can reinstall the new parking sensors with new sensors in the old place. If you want to install a rear-view camera instead of sensors, then in this case it is better not to touch them or change the bumper altogether.

Step 5

The display is glued to the dashboard with double-sided tape. Carefully tear off the tape, and degrease the place of gluing.

Step 6

To increase the life of the parking sensors, monitor the status of the sensors. The bumper should be kept clean whenever possible. As a last resort, clean the sensors themselves with a cloth without water before each ride. Especially you need to monitor the sensors in winter and do not leave the car with ice and snow on the bumper overnight.
