Each fuel injection system has its own advantages and disadvantages. Carburetors are good for their simplicity and low cost. And injectors conquered the masses with their reliability and stability of work.
Instructions
Step 1
Forced injection system, also called injection, is used on most cars. Its advantage is that the mixture formation is electronically controlled. She closely monitors how much air and fuel is mixed in a certain volume, what is the percentage of air in the mixture. In carburetors, the air content in the mixture depends on the jets, or more precisely, on the thickness of the holes in them. And in carburetors, fuel is supplied to the combustion chambers due to the pressure difference in the chambers. In injectors, the fuel pump pumps gasoline into the rail, after which the injectors open for a certain time, the fuel-air mixture is forced into the combustion chamber.
Step 2
The power and torque of carburetor engines at low revs is higher than that of injection engines. This is due to the fact that the carburetor takes as much gasoline from the fuel line as it needs. The consumption, of course, goes up. But the injector will not take more gasoline than it should for normal operation. The rail pressure is constant, the nozzles open at a strictly specified interval. This interval is recorded in the fuel card stored in the electronic control unit. But at high revs, the picture is the opposite, the injector gives out more torque and power. This is very helpful when overtaking at high speed.
Step 3
From the point of view of convenience, of course, the injector will be much more attractive. There is no such mechanism as "suction". You can start the engine even in cold weather without any unnecessary manipulations. Automation itself analyzes all parameters of the engine, including its temperature. And the formation of a mixture occurs only after the analysis of all read data. The colder it is, the less air will go into the combustion chamber. In carburetors, this process is completely manual. True, on the tenth Lada family, for example, a semi-automatic suction was installed on the latest carburetor models. The basis of its design is a bimetallic plate.
Step 4
From a maintenance standpoint, if you look at it, the carburetor is cheaper to repair. Even a new carburetor costs about the same as two new injectors for an injection injection system. But the injector is more reliable than the carburetor, it requires less attention to itself. And it will not work to clean the nozzles by rearranging the armored wires, as is often done on carburetors. Only cleaning on a special machine under high pressure will help. For beginners, the injector will be the most suitable, since it is problematic to stall at an intersection with such an injection system.
