Many car enthusiasts, in whose cars there is a contact ignition system, over time are thinking about a contactless system or simply electronic ignition. After all, this system has some advantages over the contact one. For example, the car starts up easier and faster because the electronic system gives a longer and more powerful spark. Also, the advantage of the contactless system is lower fuel consumption due to earlier ignition. Finally, this system provides excellent acceleration dynamics.
Necessary
switch, spark plugs, ignition coil, ignition distributor sensor and wires
Instructions
Step 1
The first step is to change the spark plugs. However, if you still have them in good condition, in principle, you can leave the old ones as well.
Step 2
The next step is to install the switch. This device actually includes two parts - this is the main unit and the backup, which allows you to continue moving in case of failure of both the main unit and the Hall sensor. In principle, the switch can be installed anywhere in the engine compartment, it is only necessary that the length of the wires is sufficient. But there is a trick here. The switch must be placed in such a place that it has good contact with the machine body, not only through the wires, but also through its body for better heat dissipation. The most convenient place for installation is the washer bracket.
Step 3
Next, you must install the sensor-distributor. So that you do not have to re-adjust the desired ignition timing, remove the cover from the old sensor and put the slider of the new one in the same position. Then take out the old distributor sensor and put a new one in the cylinder block.
Step 4
Next, screw on a new coil and, using wires, connect it to the switch and the ignition distributor.
Step 5
That's basically it. The installation of the electronic ignition (contactless ignition system) is complete. You check all the mountings and you can try to start the car.
