The need to quickly remove all wheels from the car may arise when preparing the car for winter or when completely replacing all wheels. Of course, it is easier to replace the wheels one at a time, but if circumstances develop in such a way that you need to remove all wheels at the same time, proceed as follows.

Necessary

  • - lift;
  • - keys;
  • - jack;
  • - 4 props.

Instructions

Step 1

Apply the parking brake to prevent accidental movement when removing wheels. The wheels can be removed as quickly as possible if you put the car on a lift, so rent a garage with a lift for the duration of the repair or contact a service station. If this is not possible, prepare 4 stable chocks, boxes or other devices that can support the weight of the car (with a margin).

Step 2

Secure each wheel with wheel chocks; if you do not have special devices, make them yourself from the corners welded with a triangle.

Step 3

Start removing one of the wheels. Remove the discs (if any), use the wheel wrench to loosen each wheel bolt one turn, then install the handle and wheel wrench in the jack. Place the jack next to the wheel, under the door, in a specially reinforced place. Secure the mechanism securely.

Step 4

Rotate the jack handle clockwise to raise the vehicle. The wheel should be at least 3 cm above the ground for easy removal. Make sure that no one is under the car, do not start the engine at this moment.

Step 5

Using a wrench, loosen all nuts and bolts, taking care to act evenly. For example, first unscrew the top, then the bottom right, bottom left, top right, top left (when securing the wheel with 5 bolts). Remove the fasteners from the wheel and remove it.

Step 6

Place a wide block of wood or metal box of the correct size under the body next to the jack. Make sure this attachment is capable of supporting the weight of the vehicle (several tons). Unscrew and remove the jack carefully.

Step 7

In the same way, remove all other wheels of the car, successively placing supports under the body. If you used a lift for repairs, no tools are needed - just remove all four wheels in turn.
