The engine cooling system helps the engine stay cool and also creates a comfortable operating environment. One of the main parts in it is the cooling radiator. It may lose its tightness during vehicle operation. If the repair cannot restore its work, then a new one should be installed.

Necessary

  • - screwdriver;
  • - pliers;
  • - key for 6;
  • - key for 10;
  • - capacity 10 liters.

Instructions

Step 1

Park the vehicle on a level surface and block the wheels. Open the cap on the expansion tank and the radiator filler neck (if any), open the interior heater (stove) tap. Take a container (10 L). Drain the coolant from the engine block and radiator into it through the drain plugs.

Step 2

Take pliers, a curly screwdriver or a 6-point wrench and loosen the clamps of the outlet, supply hoses. Loosen the clamp on the steam pipe and disconnect it from the radiator. Remove the hoses from the connections. Separate the fan shroud halves and remove the fan shroud.

Step 3

Take a key 10 and unscrew the two bolts securing the radiator to the car body. Slide it up by pressing the top guide cover latch and pull the radiator out of the engine compartment. Remove the radiator guide shroud. Remove the mounting cushions from it. Inspect them and replace them if they are cracked or worn out, losing their elasticity.

Step 4

Rinse the radiator from the outside under a pressure of water, dry it and check for leaks. To do this, plug the inlet and outlet nozzles, supply air to it at a pressure of at least 0.2 MPa. Put in a tub of water. Apply air and wait at least 30 seconds. During this period, the release of air bubbles should not be observed. Otherwise, repair the part.

Step 5

Take automotive sealant and lubricate the outside of the radiator pipes and inside the inlet and outlet hoses with it. Install new radiator cushions. Place the tested radiator in the engine compartment and attach it to the car body. Connect the pipes to it and fix them with worm clamps. Fill with coolant, start the engine, warm it up and check the connections for leaks. Set the required level in the expansion tank.
